In 1897 the Indiana legislature nearly passed a bill that would change the value of the mathematical number pi, the the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.

It is futile to legislate against the laws of physics; nature remains undisturbed. The laws of nature are not constrained by administrate actions, regardless of how powerful the administrators believe themselves to be.
